Chelmsford City will face Cambridge United, Dover Athletic and Ipswich Town in pre-season ahead of the 2018/19 season.

Following defeat in the National League South semi-final stage last season, the Clarets are looking to have the best possible preparation in a bid for another promotion surge.

The campaign begins on Tuesday, July 3 at Brentwood Town - a team they defeated 3-0 in last year’s pre-season.

Four days later is a trip to another Isthmian North team - with Craig Edwards’ Cheshunt hosting the Clarets.

City’s third pre-season fixture will see them head to Maldon & Tiptree on Tuesday, July 10 - with the Jammers set to be among the favourites for promotion to the Isthmian Premier League next season. Joe Dunne’s Cambridge United will be the opponents in City’s first home pre-season fixture.

The League Two side will head to the Melbourne Community Stadium on Saturday, July 14.

National League outfit Dover Athletic will be the Clarets’ second opponents at home, travelling across to Essex on Wednesday, July 18.

Seven days later an Ipswich Town XI will travel from Suffolk to Essex in a match that is likely to draw a big crowd.

City will finish their pre-season campaign on Saturday, July 28 as the Clarets head to Braintree Town. City took two points from the Christmas double-header over Bradley Quinton’s Iron side, with their Essex rivals scoring late goals in both games as they scraped 2-2 draws at home and away.
