Writtle Wanderers’ Junior Cup run came to an end against Kent’s Gillingham Anchorians.
The visitors won 25-10 and took early control opening the scoring although Writtle hit back with a penalty from Rob Ketley.
A Tim Janes try, converted by Ketley, put the hosts ahead, with further scoring chances spurned.
Trailing 12-10 at half-time, Writtle started the second half well, but again missed vital penalty kicks and also dropped the ball over the line when a try looked certain.
A yellow card for Writtle centre Keith Chipato proved costly in the end as Gillingham scored again and saw out the game to end Writtle’s cups hopes.
