CHELMSFORD City returned to winning ways as they secured a 2-0 win against Gloucester City.
The Clarets had crushed Bowers & Pitsea 6-0 in the Essex Senior Cup last week and followed that up with another convincing away performance.
Chris Dickson and Kudus Oyenuga scored the goals on Saturday, as Chelmsford returned to the National League South promotion hunt.
The away side started the better and Danny Green tested the Gloucester stopper after 10 minutes with a curling drive.
And the tricky Green was involved in the opener after 15 minutes. After his free-kick had been partially cleared he sent a fine cross into the area which Dickson finished well.
The rest of the half was played out relatively comfortably, although Sam Beasant was called into action on more than one occasion early in the second half as Gloucester pressed for the equaliser.
The points weren’t wrapped up until eight minutes from time with Oyenuga once again on target from the penalty spot.
Having netted twice from 12 yards against Bowers, the striker lashed home to double the lead on 82 minutes.
Chelmsford City: Beasant, Daley, Graham, Haines (Miller 57’), Spillane, Smith, Green (Church 53’), Johnson, Oyenuga, Dickson (Batt 69’), Porter
