Holders Black Bull are through to the semi-finals of the Ridley League Dominoes Cup.

The unbeaten John Steele and Rose Mallord saw the Margaretting side to a comfortable win against City Birds, but they may need to overcome the ever-present threat of Felsted Chequers if they are to hang on to the trophy.

The Chequers drew on the resolve gained over 15 years – six finals, and the same number of Dominoes League titles or runners-up placings – to put down plucky Red Beret, who fought to the last game before admitting defeat.

Rob Kirk and Gary Willsmore won three out of three for the visitors.

Dog & Partridge stayed on course for their first dominoes title, making short work of last season’s beaten finalists Compasses with George Wood and Mick Cain undefeated in the game.

Little Waltham were beaten 6-3 by City FC.
