CHELMSFORD pulled off a fine recovery to secure a 9-9 draw in the East Anglian Level Play croquet match against bogey team Watford.
The home team were four games down with only the final four singles to be played.
Paul Bridgman, Bob Jones, Judith Hand and Tony Frewin all played their part in winning five games up to this stage but in an exciting finish they raised their game to secure a draw.
As Chelmsford had experienced heavy defeats against Watford in recent years and were buoyed by the result.
