CHELMSFORD ABC fighter Matt Saunders scored a unanimous points decision against Braintree ABC’s Danny Mitchell.
The two met at Canvey ABC’s show and Mitchell went into the ring having won five of his six fights.
But Saunders was recently crowned Essex novice champion and boxed some neat combinations that caught the judge’s eye to secure the victory.
Chelmsford youngster Harvey Theedom boxed Canvey’s Lewis Spink in a no-decision skills bout.
Theedom dominated the first round but the other two rounds were closer.
Liam Holloway was left without a fight when his scheduled opponent weighed in 3kg too heavy.
Chelmsford trainers Dave Hubble and Johnny Mouser were very happy with both lads’ performances.
Hubble said: "More Chelmsford boxers will be in action soon. They have all been training hard at Harway House and are keen to get some bouts under their belts."
Boxing for beginners is on Sundays from 10am at Chelmsford ABC. The minimum age to take part it 10. Contact 07789 225501 for more information.
