HOLDERS Little Waltham SC crashed out of the Ridley League Dominoes Cup as outsiders CCFC B pulled off the best result of their season.

City, boosted by their league win in February, emulated it in the extended cup format, recovering from losing the first series of matches 2-1 to snatch overall victory in the final game.

Des Vickers and Allan Sheldrake beating Vernon Trim and Bert Fuller by just two holes. It was tough on Waltham’s John Vinall and Betty Trim, who beat all three City pairs.

Last season’s beaten finalists, Compasses, could not prevent CCFC A joining their clubmates in the last four, while 2014 winners Chequers B lost the showdown with their own A team, who are now two wins short of their fourth cup success in seven years.

The other quarter-final brought disappointment for Dog & Partridge, who last won this event 35 years ago. They went out to Cricketers, who took a step closer to repeating their 2011 achievement by reaching the final.
