DOG & Partridge’s 12-3 win over basement club Bird in Hand put back on top of the Ridley League table, three points clear of Cricketers.
The darts was largely one-way traffic, though Alan Readman (Bird) added another noteworthy scalp to his belt with a straight-legs win over George Wood.
But the dominoes was in the balance until Colin Smith and Richard Dow (Dog) took the final game.
City B go third - their highest position ever - after another great escape, taking the last five points at Black Bull.
City A’s title chances have all but evaporated, but they beat Chequers A with plenty to spare, and with matches in hand and fixtures against Cricketers, Little Waltham and the Bull to come, may have a big say in who takes the title.
Results (Mar 8): Black Bull 6, CCFC B 9 (singles/pairs 4-3, mixed 0-1, women 0-1, dominoes 2-4); CCFC A 11, Chequers A 4 (6-1, 0-1,1-0, 4-2); Chequers B v Compasses - postponed; Dog & Partridge 12, Bird in Hand 3 (6-1,1-0, 1-0, 4-2).
Fixtures (Mar 22): Dominoes Cup, quarter-finals: CCFC A v Compasses, Chequers B v Chequers A, Cricketers v Dog & Partridge, Lt Waltham SC v CCFC B.
