CHELMSFORD recorded back to back victories for the first time in London One North league with a comprehensive four-try bonus point 38-3 win over a disappointing Harrow side.

The win lifted Chelmsford to ninth in the table and nine points away from Chingford, who are currently sitting in the third relegation spot.

Coach Eddie Gooby who fielded the same 18 players who beat CS Rugby 1863 the previous week and saw wing Jamie Ash score a hat-trick of tries.

Simon Hoult scored a penalty try, a penalty and kicked three conversions, while Dan Idundun got a try and Zane Mannan a conversion to secure the victory.

But the win was tempered by the news influential loose head prop, Stephen Prest is likely to be out for up to five weeks following a torn hamstring injury during the match.

Gooby said: “This was a massive step forward for the squad. During the week we spoke about this game and what was needed and today the game plan was spot on.”

Chelmsford host Tring on Saturday (2.25pm) in a game which will undoubtedly prove to be a stern test for the home side.
