SPRINGFIELD Striders took the men’s team honours at the latest Mid Essex League Cross-Country fixture on Sunday.
A dominant performance, from the team that finished fourth in the County Championships the previous week, saw the white and yellow vests with all seven scoring members in the top 13.
James Smith won the race and was closely followed by Chris Burgoyne and Alex Manton. Stuart Putt, Stuart Raven, Steve Moore and Mark Buckley were the other scorers.
The ladies were led home by Polly Bridgman, Sarah Colbert, Sharon Bannister and Kirsty Williams to take third spot.
Seventeen Striders tackled the popular Benfleet 15 over a hilly multi-terrain course. First Strider man home was Paul Jeggo, with Samantha Monk the first lady.
This coming weekend the club resume their 53-12 League campaign at Hadleigh in Suffolk.
