STEVE Pennell was unbeaten in his six singles matches but was unable to stop Liberal dropping to fourth place in division two of the Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League.

Liberal drew 5-5 with Rawreth A, with Pennell completing his hat-trick, before losing 6-4 against Hatfield Peverel B, where Pennell again got a maximum.

Elmtree Excalibur C lead the division three table by seven points with a game in hand. Phil Smith had a hat-trick in their 8-2 win over Danbury F, who bounced back with a 6-4 win over Chelmsford C, with Dave Marsh scoring a maximum.

It was all-square in the division five match between Chelmsford G and Galleywood D, with Mark Glenister getting a singles hat-trick for Galleywood in the 5-5 draw.

The very experienced Danbury L team, who are currently in second place, beat Chelmsford F 10-0, with Norman Hayes, Roger Tiffin and Dave Whiting all undefeated.

In the CLICK League Buttsbury B ran out 4-1 winners against Old Chelmsfordians J, while Chelmsford J beat Black Notley 3-2.
