CHELMSFORD City returned to the top of the Essex County Women's League Premier Division table but the Clarets were unhappy with a 2-2 home draw with Beacon Hill Rovers.
The visitors opened the scoring through skipper Jo Smeaton but City equalised through Lisa Overall’s penalty following a hand ball.
Chelmsford had further goalscoring chances but conceded a second goal just before half-time following a corner. City nullified Rovers’ long balls in the second half and equalised through Jessica Loble’s 35-yard free-kick.
Chelmsford manager Simon Horne said: “Although a point takes us back to the top, we’re all a little disappointed that we couldn’t capitalise and make the lead wider.”
