CHELMSFORD Chieftain’s outstanding form continued in both the league and cup competitions with victories over the Cardiff NIHL Devils and Invicta Dynamos.

Goals from Danny Hammond, Juraj Huska (2), Jake Sylvester, Ross Brears and Cameron Bartlett gave the Chieftains a 6-0 first period lead against the Devils at the Riverside, with only just seven minutes gone.

Hammond, Matt Turner and Grant Bartlett (2) slotting another four past the hard-working Michael Crisp to make it 10-0 after the second period.

Chieftains conserved energy for the following day’s encounter at Invicta and were punished as Thomas Stuart-Dant replied for the Devils, but Huska complete his hat-trick and Cameron Bartlett added another before Cardiff managed another consolation.

The 12-2 victory kept the Chieftains in third in the table, four points adrift of leaders Streatham Redskins.

On Sunday it was back to cup action against Kent rivals Invicta Dynamos in Gillingham. Goals form defenceman Alex Staples and Darren Brown put the visitors 2-0 up at the end of the 1st period.

Brears made it 3-0 five minutes into the second period and with Invicta a man down through a bench penalty, Anthony Leone added a fourth to end the period. Invicta pulled a goal back thorugh Jacob Ranson but Huska restored the four-goal lead.

Chieftains are at home on Saturday to Oxford City Stars and travel to the Solent Devils on Sunday.
