CHELMSFORD City Ladies City made the trip up the A12 and returned with all three points following a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Essex County Women’s League Premier Division basement side, Lawford.

The hosts took a fourth-minute lead when an in-swinging corner from the right flew straight in.

City’s confidence began to build and in the 31st minute substitute Shannon Hughes equalised with a fantastic first strike for the club.

City rode their luck at times in the second half but in the 87th minute Ashleigh Harding lifted her shot high into the roof of the net for her first of the season.

And Georgia Sleep made sure of the points in the dying seconds by rolling the ball in.
