CHELMSFORD City will be hoping lightning does not strike twice on Saturday when they head to Basingstoke Town again.

The Clarets went down 4-2 at The Camrose on Saturday to end their FA Cup ambitions for this season.

And they head back to Hampshire this weekend for a National League South fixture.

Basingstoke raced into a two-goal lead through Manny Williams, who fired home after City goalkeeper Christian Dibble parried a shot, and Chris Flood's 25-yard shot.

Aiden Palmer pulled a goal back for the visitors when he capitalised on Williams' error and fired a shot under keeper Aaron Howe.

The goal boosted Chelmsford but they were unable to beat Howe before half-time.

And it was the Dragons who found the net again when Liam Enver-Marum made it 3-1 on the hour mark and then scored his second of the game as the hosts dominated.

Clarets captain Mark Hughes reduced the arrears in the 89th minute but it could not help City from making it back-to-back defeats.
