KATE Taylor and Kate Robinson were on target as Chelmsford Ladies defeated Harleston Magpies 2-0 in EHL Conference East.
Both sides struggled to keep possession but Harleston several chances in a goalless first half.
But Chelmsford got the upper hand after the break and Taylor scored from the top of the D before Robinson’s solo goal wrapped up the win.
Chelmsford men’s first team dropped to the bottom of East Prem A following their 3-0 away defeat to Cambridge University.
The ladies’ fourth team bounced back from defeat with a comfortable 5-0 win over Southend II in Essex Division Two.
Wendy Daden’s first half brace put Chelmsford 2-0 up at half-time.
Chelmsford maintained the pressure and Laura Clesham made it 3-0 and Gill Collins added two goals to complete the rout.
With the lower teams stretched for players, the ladies’ fifth team only had 10 players against unbeaten Southend & Benfleet II in Essex Division Three and were duly beaten by second-half goals.
Chelmsford’s men’s fifth team put in a good performance but lost 2-0 to Havering IV in East 7SE. But the sixth team secured a 3-0 win against top-of-the-table Wapping in East 9SE thanks to goals from Ed De Mello (2) and Max Harder.
