DEFENDING Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League First Division champions Bocking may be without the injured Rik James but they are still in contention for honours again.

Former Chelmsford men’s singles champions Dave Cole, a four-time winner, and Keiran Lally, who has won the title once, were undefeated as Bocking romped to a 9-1 win over Galleywood A.

Fifteen-year-old Sam Hume, making his league debut, added a brace of wins but lost to John Holland.

Danbury A stay top and they beat Maldon A 8-2, while OCs A overcame Danbury C 6-4.

Division two’s top two met and leaders Liberalbeat Danbury D 6-4. Danbury D then defeated Rawreth 8-2. Bryn Thomas was on top form as Galleywood B beat Hatfield Peverel B 7-3. OCs D recorded their second division three win of the season by defeating Maldon C 8-2. Maldon B and Chelmsford B drew.

Danbury H beat Hatfield Peverel D 9-1 in division four, Hatfield Peverel D lost 6-4 to Danbury K and Elmtree Excalibur D drew 5-5 with Chelmsford D. Galleywood C beat Chelmsford E 6-4, who also lost 6-4 to OCs F.

Division five leaders Writtle beat OCs H 9-1, while Elmtree Excalibur E drew 5-5 with Highwood.

Galleywood D beat Hatfield Peverel E 6-4 and defeated Chelmsford F by the same scoreline.
