SIMON Hoult scored 22 points as Chelmsford’s first team defeated Southend Saxons’ second string 42-26 in a pre-season friendly.
Hoult scored two tries and six conversions against a strong Saxons side in Southend.
The visitors led 14-7 at half-time with Hoult converting both the tries he scored.
Chelmsford stepped up the pressure in the second half and were rewarded by Jack Acorn scoring two tries and Chris Hoult and Hamie Ash one each, with Simon Hoult adding the extras each time.
