AFTER a winning weekend Chelmsford Chieftains need just two points from the remaining eight on offer to secure the NIHL Division 1 South league championship.

The Chieftains beat Milton Keynes Thunder 4-3 away on Sunday with goals coming from Martin Piecha, Ross Brears, James Ayling and Matt Turner.

That victory came after the Chieftains made the trip to Oxford on Saturday night to City Stars. But it was Chelmsford who were shining bright as the league leading Chieftains romped to a 11-3 victory.

Cameron Bartlett, Martin Piecha and Darren Brown all grabbed a brace in a massive win which was made even sweeter when rivals Invicta Dynamos slipped up on the Isle of Wight.

With a tough away fixture in Cardiff on Saturday, Chieftains face Bracknell Hornets at the Riverside on Sunday.

And if things go to plan the Chieftains fans will be celebrating yet another piece of silverware at the Riverside Ice Rink.
