ANDREW Squire (Maldon BC) beat Alby Evans (RHP BC) in the  Single Handed Two Bowl Championship to win the Alex Stammers cup as Chelmsford & District Bowling Association held its finals day.

In the Champion of Champions David Cable (Burnham Hillside BC) defeated Eddy Barker (Southminster BC) in a very close match (21-20).

The Pairs Championship battle for the Houghton Trophy was won by Alfie Burton and Tony Wallis who beat Mike Hartshorn and Geoff Gasson in another very close game at  RHP Bowls Club.

Martin Gardner (Chelmsford BC) with Graham Robson, Eric Smith and Phil Kyfin overcame stiff opposition from Brian Stubbins, Brian Hobden, Ron McKean and Bill Martin (Maldon BC) to win the Essex Weekly News shield in the Fours Championship. The Un-badged Championship for the Bob Keppel Trophy was played between Roger Day (Writtle BC) and Steve Dunn (Falcon BC), with Dunn winning 21-11.
The Officers Championship final between Alby Evans (RHP BC) and Eddy Barker (Southminster BC) was shot for shot from the first end to the last and saw Alby Evans triumph 21-19. 

Graham Robson (Chelmsford BC) won in the Singles Championship against Brian Norris (Stock & Buttsbury BC) after 17 ends 22-12.

Everyone was treated to a most exciting final to the Triples Championship with Mike Hartshorn, Ron McKean and Geoff Gasson (Maldon BC) eventually winning after a really close fought game against B Mather, S Mahoney and M King (Great Baddow BC).

President Mike Etridge presented the trophies and thanked all concerned for a really great day.
