WHAT was scheduled to be the last weekend of the cricket season became the penultimate week with Noak Hill agreeing to a second fixture on Saturday.

That will give Chelmsford a chance for revenge after a one-wicket defeat.  The Sunday seconds ended with a comfortable win featuring a maiden century for Matthew Davis.

Harry Green (45) top scored for Chelmsford at Noak Hill in a total of 182 from 35 overs. Rob Hayto took three wickets and Huw Davies two as the home side were reduced to 72 for seven.

Noak Hill’s lower order rallied against plenty of different bowlers and on the scoreboard achieved the score with 183-9 in the last over with one wicket left.

The curtain did come down on the Sunday season.

At Chelmer Park, Lee Cranmer and Matt Davis put together a big partnership as Chelmsford amassed 236, a score well above par on difficult pitch.

Luke Smith and Craig Thompson grabbed three wickets apiece in the reply with Old Chelmsfordians bowled out cheaply for 86 to hand Chelmsford a 150-run win.
