CHELMSFORD won a hard-fought game against a determined Enfield side by four tries to three and in doing so they consolidated fourth position in the table and secured a precious bonus point.

Playing up the slope in the first half and leading by 17 – 5 at half time, thanks to a hat trick of tries from left wing Seb Hill, Chelmsford should have gone on to dominate this game.

Not for the first time this season they failed to take the initiative when leading by a comfortable margin at half time and it was not until the last few minutes of the game after Enfield had clawed their way back to 17 – 17, that Chelmsford scored the winning try, thanks to a sparkling effort from centre, Jobi Fisher.

Next week, Chelmsford have an Essex Intermediate Cup game against Upminster so it will give coach Eddie Gooby another chance to look at the good young crop of players who are pushing for first team selection. Kick-off is at 3pm.
