CLARETS: City looking to get second win over Basingstoke

Mark Hawkes’ Chelmsford City side will be looking to gain three more Skrill South points when they travel to 11th placed Basingstoke Town this Saturday (3:00pm KO).
City will be looking to make it a league double over Basingstoke after already tasting victory against the Dragons back in December in the reverse fixture when Rob Edmans emerged from the bench to net the only goal of the game in the 1-0 win.
Edmans is the club’s top scorer so far this season having found the back of the net seven times, and he will undoubtedly be looking to further embellish his goal record on Saturday.
He’s closely followed by Luke Callander who has made an instant impact since signing from Heybridge Swifts back in December and has five goals to his name.
Callander will be hoping to be fit for this match after struggling with an ankle injury sustained against Concord Rangers on Tuesday 21st January 2014.
And that victory over Town in December was only Mark Hawkes’ second league match in charge of the Clarets, and he will be pleased with the form his side have endured since taking the reins at Melbourne Park.
His side have only tasted defeat twice in eleven matches and will want to bounce back from the disappointing result picked up in their last fixture – a 2-1 defeat against promotion-hopefuls Ebbsfleet United.
Saturday’s hosts, meanwhile, have picked up two league wins, two draws and two defeats in their last six games and will want to regain some stability as they look to push themselves into the league’s top ten.
They will be without Adam Green for this encounter after the former Fulham and Dartford defender serves his one-match suspension after receiving a second-bookable offence just over two weeks ago.
A win for Basingstoke will mean they leapfrog Staines Town, providing they are not victorious in their match versus Ebbsfleet United.
