LAST week’s power cut left Ridley League fixtures secretary John Steele in the dark over the Darts Cup semi-finals line-up.

His Black Bull side trailed 2-3 to Chequers A, needing both remaining singles, when the Margaretting pub was plunged into darkness. It was nearly midnight when the supply was restored.

As luck had it, the two clubs meet again in the Dominoes Cup when the league resumes on January 7, so the last two singles will be played then. Darren Wilks (v Tom Kerr) and Steve Hills (v Gary Newman) have the job of seeing the Chequers over the finish line.

The blackout also struck at Fryerning, though not for long enough to interrupt the Cricketers’ progress into the last four as opponents Chelmsford City C hit a new low in their ongoing player problems. Claire Parnell had to deputise for one of the no-shows, and though the visitors had chances to extend the match into the pairs, they never looked a real threat.

DARTS CUP – Qtr-finals: Black Bull 2, Chequers A 3 (to be finished Jan 7); Cricketers 4, CCFC C 1; King’s Arms 7, Chequers B 0; Lt Waltham SC 3, CCFC A 4.
