STRIKER Luke Callander has followed in Mark Hawkes and Steve Smith's footsteps by switching from Heybridge to Chelmsford.

The 28-year-old signed for the Melbourne Stadium club on Thursday and is expected to appear at home against Basingstoke Town tomorrow.

With 19 goals already this season for Ryman Division One North side Heybridge Swifts, where he was managed by new Clarets boss Hawkes and assistant manager Smith, Callander also picked up the division's Golden Boot award last season after netting 36.

City will be hoping to make it back-to-back wins in the Conference South after last weekend's 3-1 victory over Farnborough.
