CHELMSFORD City’s reward for springing a surprise at former Football League club Hereford United on Saturday is an intriguing FA Carlsberg Trophy Third Round tie away at either FC Halifax Town or Maidstone United on Saturday 12th January.
The Clarets await the result of the sides’ Tuesday night clash after a Saturday postponement due to a waterlogged pitch.
FC Halifax, derived from another ex-Football League club, are currently sixth in the Blue Square Bet North, while Maidstone are top of the Ryman League Division One South.
They have a fairly unique artificial surface at their Gallagher Stadium, and currently include ex-City defender Steve Ward in their squad.
