BRADWELL has been confirmed as one of eight sites for new nuclear power stations.

Energy secretary Chris Huhne made the announcement, on Monday October 18, but campaign group Blackwater Against New Nuclear Group (Banng), based in West Mersea, vowed to continue the fight to stop it.

Mr Huhne announced that three sites had been dropped from the plans but Bradwell was deemed suitable, along with others in Hartlepool, Lancashire, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Cumbria, Sizewell in Suffolk and Wylfa on the Isle of Anglesey.
