TRIBUTES have been paid to two men who died in a horrific crash.

Stephen Kateley, 69, from Colchester and James Quartermaine, 20, from Heybridge, were killed during a three car collision in Howe Green.

Mr Kateley's family stated: "Stephen will be missed by all of us and his friends very much.

"He was a dearly loved husband, father, grandfather and well liked by everyone who knew him.

"He enjoyed holidays, travel and spending time with his family."

Mr Quartermaine’s family said: "James was a dearly loved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend to all those that knew him.

"He loved his job as a design consultant for B&Q.

"He previously studied at The Sandon School and Writtle College and in his spare time he enjoyed working out at the gym, playing rugby and cricket.

"He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.”

Emergency services were contacted shortly before 6.05pm, on Tuesday, March 8 to reports of a collision involving a Volkswagen Tiguan, a Seat Leon and a Volkswagen Scirocco in Southend Road, Howe Green.

A teenage girl from Heybridge was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following the collision.
