A new £1.6 million library is set to open months ahead of schedule.
The library in High Street, Newhaven, was due to open in 2014 but East Sussex County Council has now announced the library could open before the end of 2013.
The project is now set to be completed in two phases with the first phase to create a library on the ground floor to be finished by the end of next year.
Phase two will see the creation of a community hub on the first floor of the building.
