THE finishing touches are being put to preparations for a medieval-themed pub crawl around York.
The Sheriff of York, Coun Paul Firth , the 625-year-old Guild of Scriveners and a team of “Serjeants” will all take part in the annual Assize of Ale, which will be raising money for three good causes.
Members of the guild will be summoned to the Mansion House at 1.50pm tomorrow and sworn in as Serjeants before touring the city’s pubs to assess their beers.
A “lucky square” draw will help raise cash for SSAFA Forces Help, Special Olympics City of York and York and District Citizens Advice Bureau, the chosen charities of the Lord Mayor of York, the Sheriff and the Guild Master for this year.
