ESSEX Pride 2010 is set to be the biggest and best ever.

The festival and celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender life in the county takes place on Sunday, September 5, in Central Park, Chelmsford.

It is the seventh year of the event and its growing success is set to make it the biggest and best that Essex has seen.

It takes place from noon until 11pm.

Last year the event attracted 3,000 people and this year the attendance is expected to double.

There is a line-up of live entertainment on the day across the community and cabaret stage.

Entrance to the community area is free of charge and organisations such as Essex Police, Essex Drug and Alcohol Partnership, Essex County Council, Chelmsford Council and Essex County Fire and Rescue and many others will be there.

There will also be a number of local businesses, food stalls and fairground rides and a children’s area with activities including face painting and arts and crafts.

Entry to the cabaret stage and bar is by wristband only, which can be bought in advance from Smith2 Bar, in Chelmsford, on 01245 259452, at www.essex pride.org.uk or on the day.
