Cricket club decision put on hold

A DECISION on whether Essex County Cricket Club can redevelop its ground has been put on hold.

It was expected a decision would be announced this month following a public inquiry held in the town last year.

But the council has now been told it has been delayed until April.

This follows a letter being received by the Secretary of State from co-applicant MCD (Chelmsford) Limited, indicating that it would be prepared to exclude part of the proposed development closest to New Writtle Street for 13 residential units from the application currently being considered.

Those who took part in the inquiry have been asked for their comments. .
