A FESTIVAL embracing the tastes of India attracted more than 300 guests and raised aid for worthy causes.

The Chelmsford Indian Association hosted its first ever food festival at the Boreham Village Hall, where a rich selection of dishes from across the country were sold and celebrated.

With most dishes personally cooked by association members, numerous stalls sold spicy delights ranging from Assamese fish curry to Bombay Vada Pav, on Saturday June 18.

An Association spokesman said: “The event was a great success of celebrating Indian culture and cuisine, with many carrying home a taste of India in their takeaways.

Various stall holders used the opportunity to raise aid for a number of charities - including Little Havens Hospice, Sightsavers and many more.
