NEW road signs have been installed on Sadlers Farm to help confused motorists better navigate the new layout.
Essex County Council has spent £63million transforming the infamous Benfleet roundabout in a bid to simplify the multi-roundabout junction and improve journey times.
However, serious safety concerns have been raised after drivers travelling along the Southend-bound A13 towards Canvey Way have been seen turning left into oncoming traffic by mistake.
Instead of going straight ahead onto the A130 to Canvey, drivers have been turning into traffic coming round the roundabout – despite road markings saying “ahead only”.
Now, Essex County Council has installed no left turn signs at the traffic lights in the middle of the roundabout, in the hopes it will make the junction clearer to drivers.
This comes after the echo reported how Paula Ellis, 41, of Clifton Avenue Benfleet, was lucky to be alive after suffering a head-on-collision at the junction.
Her green Ford Fiesta was written off when she crashed with a black Lexus heading straight for her as she left the A13 from Benfleet towards the A130.
