Night trains replaced with buses

COMMUTERS will be forced to take bus replacements services on late night services.

Permanent engineering works will affect train lines from Liverpool Street on Monday, January 9, Tuesday, January 10 and Wednesday, January 11.

Passengers to Colchester, Ipswich, Norwich, and branch lines such as Witham and Braintree, will be affected when travelling after 10.30pm.

Trains from Liverpool Street will run to Billericay and Shenfield where a bus connection will continue to Witham for connecting trains onwards.

I often find myself wondering "how could the evening service from London be any worse? they don't run very late, they run fairly infrequently and they're often very busy". It seems National Rail have found a solution to that problem though, so well done. I'm sure it affects other people too, but this is bad news for music fans who, with the lack of bands playing locally (not the fault of promoters or venues here; bands are reluctant to book tour dates in Colchester due to the closeness of London), there's now no trains back after these concerts will finish, forcing people to take the much slower, more cramped bus.

Actually, re-reading this, I'm confused, it says perminent engineering works and then lists three dates? Is this perminent as in every evening for now on, or perminent as in three days (aka not perminent)?

In the summer people will descend on this island from across the planet, to witness the greatest show on earth. They will then need to consult their translation books for three oh so important words - 'rail replacement service'.
