TWO people have been convicted of involvement in running a brothel.

Aleksandra Bryll, 27, of Berkley Close, Colchester, and Alexsander Sochacki, 38, of The Admirals, Harwich, were found guilty at Ipswich Crown Court.

Both had denied a charge of managing or assisting in the management of a brothel, between March 30 and October 1, 2008.

They had declined to give evidence in their own defence during the seven-day trial, but were convicted by a jury.

Sochacki and Bryll have been bailed until sentencing on April 28.

The jury heard the brothel had been set up and run at a Victorian house in Alexandra Road, Ipswich, which had been rented in Bryll’s name.

Former neighbour Mary Daley told the court her attention had been drawn to the numerous men who arrived between 8am and 3am, and stayed for about 20 minutes.

Mrs Daley said “sexual noises” could be heard from inside the property.

Joanne Eley, prosecuting, told the jury when police raided the house, they found women dressed only in underwear.

A search of the house uncovered a number of sex toys and a stock of condoms.

After being arrested, Aleksandra Bryll admitted she had worked as a prostitute twice a week, but denied handing over any part of her earnings to anyone.

Before the trial concluded and following defence submissions, Judge Peter Thompson ruled there was no case to answer for two other women who had been charged with the same offence.

Mr Thompson directed the jury to return not guilty verdicts for Eliza Bryll, 22, of Berkley Close, Colchester, and Magdelena Chamera, 24, of Nelson Road, Harwich.
