A PLAY group has been recognised for its work with children with autism.

Stepping Stones in Barrack Street, Colchester, has been praised for how it helps integrate children with additional needs. The autism friendly setting award was presented to them this week.

Jade Greaves, nursery manager, said: “Where we are an integrated nursery we have a lot of children on the autistic spectrum. We wanted to be recognised for the support we offer these children.”

It has taken the nursery a year to put together a portfolio for a board of directors.

Jade added: “All the staff have pulled together. It’s such an achievement for us.

“It’s good for us to show people we can support a variety of children’s needs.”
