A MAN is in a critical condition in hospital after a nightclub attack.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding an assault inside a Chelmsford nightclub.

Police were contacted by the ambulance service shortly after 3.30am on Saturday, August 11, following reports a man was unconscious in Victoria Road.

Officers arrived and found a 49-year-old man from Chelmsford with serious head injuries.

He was taken to Broomfield Hospital and later transferred to Romford’s Queens Hospital where he is in a critical, but stable condition.

Detectives have examined CCTV from the Hooga bar and club and are releasing a CCTV image of a man they are keen to speak to in connection with the incident.

Enquiries have established the man may have links to Kent.

Anyone with information in connection with the assault or who can identify the man pictured is urged to contact detectives at Chelmsford police station on 101.
