A LEADING firefighter has issued a warning after another kitchen fire in the borough.
Two fire crews from Chelmsford were called to an oven on fire, in Rainsford Road, and used a dry powder extinguisher to put out the flames last night (Tuesday).
Assistant Divisional Officer Chris Noakes said: “Our firefighters attend hundreds of fires a year which originate in the kitchen.
“Cooking is one of the major causes of fires in the home and even the smallest kitchen fire can cause devastation to your home and leave loved ones injured or even killed.
“If a fire does break out in your kitchen do not attempt to tackle it yourself.
“Just get yourself and your family out and call the fire service. We can deal with the fire safely and quickly.”
Mr Noakes also advised all homeowners to fit, and regularly test, smoke alarms in their properties.
Firefighters were called to the incident at 7.20pm and the flames were put out by 7.35pm.
Crews were also called to another kitchen fire in The Cedars, South Woodham Ferrers, on Friday, February 11.
