THE new Bishop of Bradwell, the Right Rev John Wraw, was installed at Chelmsford Cathedral on Sunday, January 29.

The service followed his consecration as a bishop at St Paul’s Cathedral, in London, which was held on January 25.

Bishop Wraw’s area covers 180 parishes in central and southern Essex, including Southend, Basildon, Chelmsford, Maldon and Brentwood, all of which are in the Chelmsford diocese.

The 52-year-old was previously archdeacon of Wiltshire in the diocese of Salisbury.

Speaking at the service he said: "We need to work for a transformed society where the old are respected and the young valued. "The people and churches of the Bradwell area are called not simply to proclaim God’s vision of a renewed world but to live it out in their common life and in their lives as individuals."

Bishop Wraw was also inducted into the College of Canons by the Dean, the Very Rev Peter Judd.
