A DOCTOR has been accused of sexually touching a woman after a blood test.

A court heard how it had taken a few attempts to get a sample from the woman’s arm at Broomfield Hospital, in Chelmsford, and afterwards, she was told she did not look well.

Raheel Mehboob is alleged to have felt the woman’s head and neck and told her she appeared to be hot after the test.

He then persuaded the woman to remove her cardigan and a T-shirt leaving her dressed only in her bra and a pair of leggings.

As she tried to hold on to her T-shirt to protect her modesty, Mehboob is alleged to have snatched it away, Jamas Hodivala, prosecuting, told Chelmsford Crown Court.

A short while later, Mehboob is alleged to have touched the top of the woman’s thigh and touched her bottom.

The trial heard the woman was in a cubicle at the hospital at the time of the incident, on December 21 last year.

At the time, Mehboob was working for an agency and had been employed as a phlebotomist, taking blood samples at the hospital. He had qualified as a doctor in Pakistan, the trial heard.

Another medical practitioner working in a cubicle next door heard the woman with Mehboob say: “I want somebody else in here now. Get someone else.”

When she looked in, the alleged victim was seen in a distressed state, the court heard.

Mehboob, 30, of Hawkins Way, Braintree, denies sexually touching the woman.

He told police there had been no sexual touching.

He claimed the woman told him she was feeling dizzy and when she tried to stand up she had started to fall so he took hold of her to prevent her falling over.

The trial continues.
