CHELMSFORD and District Fuchsia Society is hoping this year’s show will be extra special as it is celebrating its 25th year.

Chairman Janet Wall said: “Last year was such a great success. All the members work really hard to put together such a good display. Everyone is welcome and it will be a really enjoyable experience.”

TV gardener Christine Walkden will be opening the display on Saturday, August 7, at St John Payne School, in Patching Hall Lane, Chelmsford, and will sign copies of her book.

The event also raises money for the St John Payne buddy scheme. This encourages students to help children from the Columbus special school. It also gives respite to parents by taking the children out on day trips and also helps towards their Christmas party.

To date the Fuchsia Society has donated nearly £66,000 to the scheme.

The show is on for two days on Saturday, August 7, and Sunday, August 8, from 10am to 5pm. Entrance is £1.

On the Sunday, at 4pm, some of the fuchsias will be sold off.
