THE top spot at this year’s V Festival is another Anglo-American affair as Kings of Leon and Kasabian headline.
The Nashville rockers and Leicester indie band will lead the two-day festival, which takes place at Chelmsford’s Hylands Park, on August 21 and 22.
More than 160,000 music lovers will gather at the 15th annual festival to watch the acts, arguably two of the biggest rock bands in the world.
Last year’s festival was headlined by Snow Patrol and Las Vegas band the Killers.
Kings of Leon, who formed more than ten years ago, have released four albums, but only achieved mainstream success in 2008 with the number one single, Sex on Fire.
Kasabian, fronted by vocalist Tom Meighan and guitarist Sergio Pizzorno, emerged in 2004 and last month picked up the prestigious Best Group gong at the Brit Awards.
The musical heavyweights are joined by Cheryl Cole, who makes her festival debut as a solo artist having appeared before with her band Girls Aloud, Stereophonics, Faithless, and Florence and the Machine.
Essex acts are also represented in the line-up with Braintree electro-pioneers the Prodigy and Brentwood pop princess Pixie Lott appearing at the Virgin Media-sponsored event.
Essex residents can once again jump the queue and buy tickets 24 hours before they go on sale nationally.
Chelmsford Council has been working with SEE Tickets and the V Festival organisers to ensure tickets are available to the county’s festival goers from 9am on Thursday.
Weekend passes with camping are £165, £140 without camping, while day tickets cost £78.50.
