TYRE slashing vandals have been on the rampage in Chelmsford.
Police are appealing for witnesses following eight criminal damage incidents that took place in one night.
Six incidents took place in roads in Great Baddow, one in Broomfield and one in Melbourne Avenue.
They occurred between 8pm on Monday night and 7am on Tuesday morning.
In Great Baddow, four incidents occurred in New Road, one in Bell Street and one in Plumtree Avenue.
The other two were in New Road in Broomfield and Melbourne Avenue.
In all the crimes, a tyre or tyres on the vehicles were slashed with an unknown weapon. The total damage caused is around £800.
Sgt Nikki Gander said: “Someone slashed the tyres on these cars deliberately, although we believe the vehicles were chosen at random.
“That person has not only damaged these cars, but has also potentially endangered the lives of anyone who used one of those vehicles.
“It is likely there are people who know who was responsible for these actions.”
