A FRESH line-up of musical talent from across the UK await indie fans.
This month's Bitterscene promises another good billing, with headlining duties fulfilled by Brighton-based act Shrag on July 30.
A group of artists and musicians (the name stands for Sussex Heights Roving Artists Group - SHRAG), the band members will be showcasing their first set at the Chelmsford indie evening.
As well as building a strong fanbase, Shrag has attracted reviews from The Guardian and has recently appeared on a compilation CD alongside popular acts including Maximo Park, Futureheads and Feeder.
Making up Shrag is Helen on lead vocals, Leigh Anne on drums and vocals, Russell on bass, Stephanie on keyboard and vocals and Bob on guitar and vocals.
Chelmsford band Death of the Elephants will also be playing a first night at Bitterscene.
The three-piece band references 1980s American punk acts, even naming bands such as Husker Du as influences, while adding a pop tinged sound.
The bass guitar work drives the song with its fuzzy and rhythmic sound, while singer smoulders like an early P J Harvey.
Bitterscene is hosted at the Bassment Club, in Wells Street, Chelmsford, where the night starts from 8.30pm and tickets cost between £5 and £6.
