A PUPIL at Burnham's academy has sadly died, the head teacher has confirmed.

Joan Costello, the head of Ormiston Rivers Academy, has confirmed the "tragic" death of one of her students.

In a statement, she said: "We are all so very sad about the tragic death of one of our much-loved students.

"All our thoughts are with the student’s family and friends at this very difficult time. We are providing professional counselling to our students and staff so they can come to terms with their loss.

"I would like to thank everyone for their kind messages of support to all those associated with the academy.”

Tributes have been left within the school grounds for the pupil, who has been named locally as 15-year-old year 11 pupil Konna Wright.

Friends of Konna's family have encouraged people to this week wear a blue ribbon, or another item of blue clothing, as a mark of respect.
