A biker has been left fighting for life after a serious crash closed the M25 for hours yesterday.

The crash happened between junction 28 and 27 of the anticlockwise carriageway of the M25 at about 6.30am and it is understood nine vehicles were involved.

Emergency services flooded the scene and the road was closed while the incident was dealt with.

Motorists were diverted for several hours while police officers and medics were on scene.

A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at around 6.30am on Saturday July 14 to reports of a collision between multiple cars and a motorcycle near junction 28 of the M25.

"The motorcyclist – a man aged 59 – was taken to hospital where he remains. His condition is currently deemed critical but stable.

"There were no other injuries among the occupants of the other 8 vehicles involved.

"There are no arrests, enquiries continue.

"The Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit will lead - and have appealed for any witnesses, or anyone with dash cam footage of the incident, to come forward.

The road reopened last night.
