POLICE have launched a further appeal for information in relation to the murder of Lee Evans.

Mr Evans, of Burnham, was stabbed in Cromar Way, Chelmsford, just before 1am on Friday, June 22, and sadly died in hospital a short time later.

A 19-year-old man will answer bail on July 26 after being arrested on suspicion of murder, being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs and possession of cannabis.

Detectives would specifically like to talk to anyone who may be involved or have knowledge of this community in Chelmsford.

Detective Chief Inspector Martin Pasmore, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: “Our investigation into Lee’s death continues to move forward in a positive way.

“I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to anyone who has already come forward with information. Your courage enables us to put the pieces together in this complex case.

“We are looking to identify two further suspects in connection with Lee’s murder, who we believe were in the Central Park area of Chelmsford and are involved in drugs.

“We are working on the hypothesis that this murder was targeted and drugs-related. The people who may hold key information are those who are involved in the use of drugs and have knowledge of the local drugs community. We know that addiction, or even recreational use, can impact all kinds of people and would ask you to assist our investigation without fear of judgement.

“It may be that you bought drugs in the Central Park area of Chelmsford between 12am and 1am on Friday, June 22. If so, we would encourage you to come forward. Your information will be treated in the strictest of confidence and could help us, and Mr Evans’ family, answer some crucial questions about this cruel murder.”

If you have any information about this case, or the two outstanding individuals, call 01279 621802 between 9am-5pm to speak to the Harlow Major Investigations Team.

Outside of office hours you can call 101 or email the Major Investigations Team using scd.appeals.essex@essex.pnn.police.uk.
