Police arrested a man on suspicion of drink driving following a roads policing operation in Chelmsford yesterday.

Officers carried out checks in Chelmer Village Way and stopped a 33-year-old man, of no fixed address, at around 1pm.

He was later released under investigation.

The operation saw 20 drivers stopped for using a mobile phone while driving, 33 people for not wearing a seatbelt and 14 people for speeding.

Officers also seized six vehicles, stopped two drivers without a driving licence and found 19 vehicles with either no MOT or insurance.
