Three new police dog and handler teams will be be protecting the streets of Essex after completing their training and passing out.

Over the last 13 weeks, the dogs and their handlers have been learning to track, search for suspects, enforce public order, detain suspects and other skills which are vital for their roles.

The newly licensed police dogs and their handlers are PC Tony Mayo and police dog Dylan, PC Graham Nuth and police dog Axel and PC Nick Hayter with police dog Vin.

PC Mayo said: “I’m happy to get out on the streets with PD Dylan. He’s reached an excellent standard which is mainly thanks to him being such a quick and natural learner.”

The three dog handlers are now fully licensed and will be on operational duties from next week. During their duties, they will help to find missing people, enforce public order and catch criminals across Essex. Following the presentation, the teams demonstrated their newly acquired skills.
